- Main topic
- Banality and Grotesqueness as an Emancipacion Process
- Annotation
The installation by Jiří Pitrmuc consists of paintings, drawings, and objects whose forms and subjects correspond with the playful and easy way of his exhibition arrangement. He transforms it into a largedimensional stage where the main protagonists are viewers. The artist himself calls his work a “grotesque.” The nonsensical, absurd and grotesque, which jointly have the potential of disturbing conventional reality via utterly new and unexpected perspective, once represented one of the most crucial avantgarde means of expression. A similar case is children’s art, which – along with the works produced by aboriginals and the Art Brut movement – ranks to the triad of significant sources of modern sensibility. Pitrmuc’s diploma is thus something of a modern-day feat exploring the potential of the two phenomena.
