Annotation

Fragile porcelain objects, shrines, artifacts, light and time. Ancient lingering remains in a silent landscape of timelessness. A breeding ground for myths that have been formed over millennia. Things created and left behind continue along their own path.

Tereza Šrámková focuses on environmental themes, anthropocene and fiction, usually expressed through concrete sculptures, ceramic objects, and traditional printmaking techniques. She roams fictional landscapes devoid of people, though their impact on the landscape is clear. Most recently, she has explored these themes in relation to ancient cultures and their mythologies, mixing them with her own ideas of mysticism, stories, worlds, and archaeology. Šrámková chose this topic for her graduation work precisely because she is fascinated by things that are distant and timeless. Ancient Egypt and antiquity are universally known for their rich mythology and symbolism, and they continue to provide stories and visual inspiration for art today. Though far removed from our present, they possess something close and fascinating that touches us deeply.
